The Ueno Adventure

Yesterday (Sat the 21st for me) we went to the Ueno Park with intention of going to the Zoo. Of course the station we exit though is on the other side of the park though! So we walked through and Ueno Park is HUGE! There are temples and rest areas and musuems and all sorts of stuff. We stopped at a couple of buddhist temples and then the Toshogu Shrine, which was built in the 1600s. We didn't go inside which was a bummer but the outside was still really gorgeous. We stopped and tried green tea ice cream, it was good. Not like the kind I've had in the US, but still pretty good. We finally made it to the zoo maybe 2 hrs after we got to Ueno haha.
Thye Ueno zoo is probably the biggest zoo I've ever been in, it's got all sorts of animals and they are all in what look to be great habitats. The only thing I thought was weird is that for some of the animals, they only had one or two and they were separated. You would think, expecially with some of the herding animals you would want to put them together? But I'm not a zoologist or whatnot so I guess I don't know haha.

No pandas at the Zoo though..*sadface* The last one died in 2008. We went for Liz's birthday mostly. And then we found out that they were celebrating the Alpha gorillas birthday too! So
they had some fun activities and the people that worked them were super nice and fun when they found out it was her bday. We were going to hit up the Imperial Palace after the zoo, but we ended up walking around the park so much that by the time we were done our feet were killing us. So we went back to the hostel instead. I needed to badly take a shower, my whole back was disgustingly wet with sweat. It is so hot here!

After we showered and ate dinner we decided to go out for the night, since it was Liz's bday. After a bit of fanagaling we decided to hit up Roppongi. That was interesting haha. It's very active over there. Full of people or all sorts. And every few feet there is this african/jamaican trying to herd you into a bar or club haha. We followed a few and got some free shots and hit up one other club that we had heard about, GasPanic. It was alright. We had the best time at this bar called the First Bar. I think there might of been a cover charge? We're not sure, because we got herded in by this guy who was going to take us somewhere else but that place wasn't working right or something. We danced and met this cool english guy and overall had fun. I think Liz and I scared some people off by our American dancing styles haha. But overall the night was fun I thought. We might go out again tomorrow, we're debating. But I think we might go to shinjuku instead. We barely made the last train haha, and then got lost walking back from the station. But what did we expect still being mostly drunk in a foreign country.

Today is the Pokemon Center! yay!

Japan Day 2!

So far it's going pretty good, I'm kinda getting used to things here. Learning the train system is...interesting haha. But I think going to Tokyo before going to Akita was a really good idea. I feel it's giving us so much more out of the trip and we're learning a lot about traveling on our own. It's weird not having a phone though! I keep going for it, to text or to check the time...I feel so lost not ever knowing what time it is haha.

Right now it is Friday at 10pm ish. Today we left the hostel at about 10 to go to the US embassy; it took us probs 1.5 hrs to get there and then we found out we didn't even need to go! And we had to go through more security there then we did at the airports! It was crazy. So we were pretty close to Ginza by then and our fourth, Turner, wanted to go to the Sony Building. So we took a train and I bought my first vending machine drink haha, A Black Coffee for my ridiculous caffeine headache...

The Sony building was pretty awesome. We were raging hungry when we got there so we basically said screw it and ate at this pasta cafe in the building. It was kinda pricey but the food was delicious! The top floor was this 3d movie experience and as we worked our way done there were various showrooms for all the sony stuff and on each showroom floor there was a stamp we could collect and then when we got them all we could spin for a prize. I got some informational cards about the fish in the aquarium. If only I could read them!

After that we decided to hit up Akihabara. Which was just plain awesome. We went in the Sega arcade and to this Book-Off place for discount books. But our feet were killing us by then so we only stayed there for a couple of hours maybe, but we are going back. It's too cool not to, plus Turner is a huge electronics geek.

Tomorrow is Liz's birthday. And we're going to the Zoo, and maybe the Imperial palace. Then probs going out on the town to see a bit of the night life and drink it up! I hope the zoo is not too expensive, but I do really want to go. I love zoos!

I'm am in.....JAPAN

I made it. I've landed and found my hostel and walked the streets and encountered crazy pharmacy ladies with large hair. It's official! The plane ride was ridiculously long, we kept waking up and being alright how much longer! Only to find out we still had 8 hours or something. The train to the hostel was about an hour...I could of done without the whole train fiasco although it wasn't nearly as bad as it could of been or how I was imagining it to turn out. We had to walk like 6 or so blocks with our luggage to the hostel and then carry them up 4 flights which was probably my least favorite part of last night (PS: it's 9am right now. Should be about 7pm in my home state).

The Hostel is pretty nice. We have cabin beds with sliding doors. I'm on top. It's got a neat lounge basement with movies and a full kitchen we can use. They are really nice and helpful and the whole staff speaks english. They've already pointed us in the direction of a convience store, and several good places to eat. And the best part it was bout 12060 yen. Which is about 140 dollors for 6 nights! Thats like 25 bucks a night. Really nice. We're about 15 mins away from akihabara which is also pretty neat.

Well I guess that's it for now. I'll try to post as I do stuff or whatnot.

Ok guys, I'mma be serious here, I HATE THAT GODDAMN ANNA GIRL!!!!! So much, the loathing burns though my very arteries.

Any of you peeps going to ACen? With me-ish?

Writer's Block: Paint the town green

Yea, I plan on celebrating it....
I'll celebrate by writing a 10 page paper about Child Welfare and child sexual abuse in Japan.

And possibly (most likely) working....

Writer's Block: TV on the PC

How often do you watch TV shows or movies on your computer? What determines whether you watch on your TV versus your computer?

I watch a ridiculous amount of tv on my computer, almost all of it. Movies are about 50/50.
I'm busy some nights, but mostly I forget. I don't really like to have to revolve my schedule around tv schedules, so it's nice that you can now watch almost everything online.
Some tv shows I prefer to watch on tv, or at least watch off their tv site, cuz then they get the ratings for my watch: Castle, LEVERAGE.
I like to watch some tc shows in the original like Bones and Leverage. But others I prefer to only watch online like Chuck, or Psych.

I hate to make my next post in so long be nothing but ranting but oh well, no one else cares to listen.
Today has been an awful day. And no, not really, but I feel like it has. You can chalk it up to being a hormonal female, I probably will once I calm down.
I have this stupid Jap Lit class. First off, I understand its a 300 class, but still we shouldn't be required to read approximately two novels every week and the conflicting thing is our teacher is just about the nicest stickler I've ever encountered.
We have to write expository papers explaining how we interpreted the readings based on two topics that he supplies, and we just turned in our first one. I don't know much about expository writing, but I consider my self a fairly good paper writer. Apparently he doesn't agree.
I guess looking back I could of gotten a worse grade, but in my mind its just as bad. I rarely get lower then a 'B' on anything I write and only then when I think I really deserve it. Like I wrote the paper literally right before class or something.
According to him, my arguements were interesting but not what he was looking for. Well I'm sorry, I was under the impression we were supposed to write how WE interpreted things, not how you did. He gave us 1000 words max, then critiqued me for not explaining every detail about something I assumed was not needing to be and at the same time, tearing my sentence structures apart to be "more concise" and have less detail.
I feel like I'm constantly being shot down in that class, that no one really listens to what I have to say. We are supposed to discuss how we see the book, but whenever I say something or claim to see something in the writing that is even remotely argumentative to what every one else has been discussing or how the teacher interprets it, I get a short "that was interesting" and they continue on with what ever.
I know I'm just hormonal right now, and this isn't that big of a deal. And my body has been looking for a reason to break down and cry with all the stress that's been building up. I guess this was just the last straw on the camel's back or whatever. I almost started crying at school and just knew, I wouldn't be able to handle 2 1/2 more hours of class so I went home. I feel awful about it, because that class is probably number one on the list of DO NOT MISS! And Thursdays are lab days were we basically spend it all talking with our groups for the semester project. But yet the minute I got into my car, I knew I had made the best decision. I just barely made it home without breaking into sobs. It's ridiculous for me to get so upset about something so trivial. And yet, every time I think of it or the class in general I break into tears yet again. That class, made my day horrible

Oh life...

So, I'm trying to figure out if I should be responsible and save my money...or splurge and buy a wii... *SIGH*
I know what I obviously should do, because really, who really needs a wii...And it's not like I have a huge tv to play it on or anything...or the extra cash. Silly Japan trip. But I think I could be thrifty till I earn the money back...

Oh well, Anna just talked me out of it.
Problem solved, I guess.

Guess where I am!!!

CALIFORNIA! Whooooooooo
Mostly. So I get here and my dad and grandma are fueding, they practically can't be in the same room as each other, so this should lead to an interesting week. But I'm still glad to be here, it's good to see them.

I've started watching Dexter, it's great! I always wait a long time to watch really great shows, but it's because people keep telling me to watch things that I don't...I'm a rebel like that hahah. But they are usually right, I often end up loving the show they say I will.

Criminal Minds is on tonight! Emily Prentiss!! She had better be ok....I would hate to have to hurt the writers, they've done so well on the show up till now. And I found out my grandpa (the one here in cali) watches Criminal Minds! Nice! So we're going to watch that tonight haha

So I've been watching my grandfather, I watched him twice this week, and will watch him 4 more times later this month. (my step-dad's dad) He needs someone to be with him for most of the day, for safety reasons and to help him eat and take pills and change and stuff. It's scary, really, just another reminder that people get old and people will have to take care of you and all that. Please someone kill me or help me kill myself when I can't go to the bathroom by myself....or I start showing dementia or something. I don't want to go through that loss, I refuse.

More posts!!

I'm sitting here with my girlfriend! And I'm posting! Oh man!!!

Huff, is super dramatic. And Paget's sad face is so mfing adorable (I'm not allowed to swear around the SO....).

We played Pokemon Monopoly today, one of the greatest games ever! And I whipped her ^_^
At 6 we are going to live action club, I will watch Huff during it. Then at 8 I will go to a Player's holiday party, then maybe we will go out to eat after.
I do not work tonight! YAYAYAY. But I work sunday...I switched. I also work tomorrow, but that's my norm. Midnight to 8am, dispatch. I will do finals during it ^_^

I haven't posted since July!!

Ok, I really didn't realize that it had been that long! I know I always say I'm going to post more, but it never flies....

Oh Well. Right now I'm sitting in one of the mock courtrooms in Maxwell, waiting for my CAST 401 class to start. I've been here since 3, and my class starts at 320, haha. Well a couple of people just walked in, and I find them super annoying.

So on to my life right now:

Paget Brewster.
I'm pretty much obsessed...but really whats new haha. I always have some sort obsession. (Btw, She's the Brunette in my icon) She plays Emily Prentiss on Criminal Minds, which I am also a huge fan of right now. And I blame Miss Candace entirely! She's super adorable. Both Candace and Paget haha. And AJ, who is the blonde in the Icon.
So besides watching 4 seasons of criminal minds, I've just started watching another show with Paget in it, Huff. It's a Showtime show, so skin, swearing, and drugs. It only lasted two seasons, but it's not bad. Funny but depressing. It's about a psychologist and his family.

Something else that I went through a phase for were Time management games. You know, like Big Fish. The Diner Dash games and etc. Played them for hours straight! It was bad. I've tapered off that for now, I just play them intermittently now.

I went to Geek.Kon in October, worked security. It was fun, except the drunken midnight heart to heart with a couple of my friends.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to work IRT at ACen again, but I don't know if we have rooms or not, I should really check on that.

Don't worry about this, just me being EmoCollapse )
I really liked this semester of school. I had some really fun classes, and even though my two CAST classes required a lot of paper writing, I really didn't mind, because I enjoyed the classes so much. I had Film Music, CAST 301, CAST 401, Japanese 301, and Parenting. CAST btw is Child Advocacy Studies.
Film music was pretty fun, and super easy. We spent the entire class period watching clips from movies and learning all about the film music evolution.
CAST was interesting. I don't think fun is the right word, since it's all about learning how to deal/interview/identify child abuse and things. The CAST teachers are really nice, I like that all. And if anybody knows me, liking and respecting a teacher is a big deal with me because it means I;'ll actually pay attention in class and do all the work on time and everything.
Japanese 301, was of course fun. I will genuially miss all those people. We've been together for 3 years now and it'll be so weird having next semester without them.
Speaking of Japanese, I'm going to Japan in the fall. Just for a semester and it should be a lot of fun. I am going with Anna and Liz and some other people from Japanese are going too, so it should be really interesting haha.

Also, I turned 21 on sunday. Not the most eventful of days. On saturday, I went to Brian's and we drank of course, It was fun and Destiny came over! It was good to see her, since she lives in Illinois or something haha. And I do miss my friends up in the cities a lot. I feel like we are drifting apart. But after I woke up on sunday, extremely groggy hahah, I went home and my mom made me Dorito Hotdish: super delicious! I drove back to winona and then sat around doing nothing untill midnight, when I went to work for 8 hours. whooo, birthday!

Well I think that's it for now, maybe I'll start posting more often. *shrug*

If I had a nickel for everytime.....

Hello Friends!
I never update, but really how many people want to read about my boring life!

I just got done with a microbiology test, I dislike this class; mostly just cuz it's so freaking boring! But it's over in a week, which is stressful, a 3 month class crammed into a month?!? What was I thinking. But it's nice too, cuz I would of died of boredom otherwise. I have to do this el stupido project on Retroviruses, but the Dr. didn't really explain it well: I'm either doing Feline Leukemia Virus or HIV...

Besides all that nonesense. I've been listening to the full audio cast recordings of Tamora Pierce's Emelan series' They are pretty great. I was wary at first, I've read those books since...forever? And I have voices for them all already. But I grew to love Rosethorn's voice and that's what really matters, she would of been a deal-breaker. Although I don't like the other teacher, Lark's, voice....meh

And while I was doing that,(since you can't do practically anything without missing bits of the speaking) I was learning to knit! I'm knitting a purple scarf, it's a little wide, and might be a bit too long, but it's coming out great for being my first knitting project. ^_^

On the tv front: I watched the Torchwood miniseries: Children Of Earth. It was EPIC. And it renewed my interest in Dr. Who, so I think I'll be able to finally finish season 4. I've been putting it off, cuz I don't really like Donna....But I really want to see the finale; ROSE!!!! But I've been a good girl and not skipped any episodes ^_^
So the new season of Torchwood....I like Gwen well enough, I liked her more then Yanto at least, but my fave characters were Tosh and Owen....and well....*sigh* The bummer thing about the miniseries...it kinda made me hate Jack alittle...I mean I know he really had NO choice at the end...
Well if he doesn't come back for season 4...it's just going to be Gwen, Reese (GOD I HOPE HE DOESN'T JOIN TORCHWOOD >.>) and HOPEFULLY Loiuse? The PA girl. She was great, I liked her a lot.
I also watched the first episode of a BBC series called "Being Human" it was interesting, but I don't know where they are going to go with it...Basically it's about a Ghost, A werewolf, and a vampire all living together. *shrugs* we'll see.
It's totally syfy (BLAH ON THAT NAME) trying to steal everything cool about other shows and shoving them into one. But it works. It's a xfiles/The librarian/bones mishmash and I like it! It does help that both the main characters are gorgeous.
The first episode was maybe not that impressive, but it gets you interested, and the second and third are each better then the last!
4th episode is on tonight, and I can't wait!
NEXT: Eureka. I've been wanting to watch that show since it first came out, but just never got around to it. Then I got into so many shows last year, I just didn't have room. But now I'm all caught up (except Dr. who...) and it's the summer so there's nothing new (except Warehouse 13). I'm on the 4th episode of the first season, and so far I love it! It's well done, the characters are great, and the science is just this side of believable while still being impressive and "out-there" Although on sidereel there is a comment saying "stop watching this, 3rd season not worth it" But I'll get around to that when it comes.

Wow....long post is long. Very sorry. Caio.
PS: I have a cold...it better go away.
PPS: I'm plotting death to the crow kingdom in my backyard
PPPS: I'm going to cali in a week and a half
PPPPS: I'm hungry

A sign?

Last night I dreamt I went onto a porch and came within feet of a huge lightning strike. It set the Porch on fire and I had to put it out.
This morning I stumble on this::

Is this some sort of sign??

TOPH!! OR lack there of! there is apparently no toph in the upcoming Airbender movie!! I'm so sad right now....although. Even though this is a live action of a cartoon and thus means that it should be AWFUL, The promo pics of it look really cool. EVEN THOUGH, the skin colors of the water and the fire people are switched...
Also, I don't know if I like or dislike that fact that they cut Toph...one of the main characters but they could keep Suki, who was I guess a more main charcter near the end, but for the majority of the series was just Sokka's love interest. Don't get me wrong, I freaking loved Suki, I wish I had fan skills like that girl! Now that I think about it, I am glad they kept her, at least one of my fave girls was kept!
But I want to know who's going to teach Aang earthbending now...

She was too badass for this world

"In the mission, Amelia Earhart became so awesome that she completely blinked out of existence forever."

If you would like to know more about the badassery of Amelia Earhart or Harriet Tubman go here: www.badassoftheweek.com
